WIG CARING RELATED QUESTIONS
How to cleanse & condition?
We recommend washing your wig or hairpiece every 6-8 wears. We suggest using a professional wig cleaning service nearby for beginners.
Synthetic Fiber
- Determine clients area of hair loss
- Before washing your wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with a paddle brush or a wide tooth comb.
- Hold the wig or hairpiece under cool running water. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water until water runs clear.
- Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry just enough to stop dripping.
- Gently detangle hair using your fingertips.
- Spray conditioning spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece.
- Allow wig or hairpiece to air dry naturally by placing on a wig stand or mannequin. DO NOT blow dry. The wig or hairpiece has to be moderately damp condition; shouldn’t be soaked or dripping everywhere.
- Store your wig or hairpiece on a wig stand or mannequin to maintain the wig’s style best.
TIPS :
- Be cautious when standing near a heat source (i.e. open oven, heater, etc); excessive head can damage the fiber.
Heat Friendly (Heat Defiant) Fiber
- Before washing your HD wigs or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb.
- Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water until water runs clear.
- Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat dry.
- Gently detangle hair using your finger tips.
- Spray conditioning spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base of wig or hairpiece.
- Air drying your wig will give the best results. You can gently blow dry (low-medium heat) using ONLY a wide tooth comb.
- Apply a detangler for HD Fiber (3-5 pumps) focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through with a wide tooth comb.
- We recommend that ONLY a wide tooth comb is used on your HD wig or hairpiece. Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling
- HD Fiber can withstand heat tools upto the level that manufacture instructed. However, we recommend working with a little lower temperature
- It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat.
TIPS :
- We recommend using Detangler for HD fiber with a wide tooth comb Daily to detangle your HD wig. This is especially important with the mid to long-length HD wigs or hair pieces.
- Allow you HD wig to air dry naturally instead to blow drying to help maintain the integrity of the fiber.
- Help protect the fiber against heat damage by using Heat Treat Spray when using heat styling tools.
Human Hair
- Before washing your HD wigs or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles with a wide tooth comb.
- Hold wig or hairpiece under cool running water. Gently lather the hair with a small amount of shampoo while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.
- Rinse thoroughly in cool water until water runs clear.
- Apply Conditioner, avoiding the base cap of the wig or hairpiece (applying conditioner to the base of the cap may weaken the knots
- With your fingers, work conditioner through the ends of the hair for about 3-5 minutes
- Rinse thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear
- Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat to the remove excess water DO NOT use a brush to detangle your human hair wig or hairpiece while it is wet. Gently use a wide tooth comb.
TIPS :
- It is recommended to use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat
- Spray Heat Treat Care product on to each section as you heat style to protect hair.
- When you curling your human hair, you can use small metal clips to hold each curl while cooling for a tighter, longer-lasting curl. For a looser, more natural looking curl, allow curls to hang while cooling.
How to store wigs?
The best way to store your wig is on a wig stand. That will help your wig from becoming tangled and soiled between wearing and it helps to maintain your wig's style. Store your wig in a clean place, away from dust, sources of high heat, and excessive humidity.
